RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a seasoned leadership role managing a current team of 6 with accountability for:
Procurement & Replenishment
- Lead 3 buyers at various levels responsible for sourcing and procurement of ~$30M/year and 6,000+ SKUs of consumer-packaged goods products from overseas suppliers
- Work closely with the Product Development team for custom OEM products in terms of sampling, pricing, manufacturing capabilities collaborating on designed products
- Work with sales leaders for quotes on bulk product buys and for product forecasts
- Strong understanding of global supplier strategies including country, manufacturer and shipping capabilities and options and overall supplier strategies for negotiations, relationships, site visits
- Strong materials, parts, components experience to understand manufacturing processes, plant capabilities and options (eg wood, stainless steel, silicone, metals, plastics, molds)
- Accountable for a high ongoing fill rate on orders ensuring the replenishment of all products/product categories across many supplier’s variables
- Demonstrated use of analytics, planning, reporting and data management to leverage cost and price opportunities across a supplier mix
Logistics
- Lead 3 team members (2 Coordinators, 3PL Manager) accountable for a high-volume supply chain function importing overseas products into a Cdn and US warehouse
- Accountable for all sea, rail, ground carriers to move products understanding pricing, timing, broker, and delivery models
- Knowledge of inter country transfers and Duty Drawbacks for transfers between country warehouses
- Accountable for 2 warehouse operations (1 in Canada, 1 in the US) whether outsourced or insourced or a combination of business models for the storage, picking, packing, and shipping of orders to both commercial and retail customers. Specifically:
o For outsourced warehouses, accountable for the contract and relationship management, labour overviews, KPIs, periodic site visits
o For insourced warehouses, accountable through a Warehouse Manager for all internal team processes, safety, staffing and operational requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Business management education in a related business/international/supply chain area
- 10-15 years of progressive supply chain experience with consumer packaged goods products, preferably working with similar materials and components
- Able to build and enhance operational processes leveraging an ERP system and data
- Strong financial acumen to manage a significant business critical budget
- Strong project and program planning to manage results through prioritization, risk management and opportunity identification
- Broad business acumen to understand business issues, opportunities and margins
- Strong team leadership experience to build a strong cohesive team while ensuring all team members contribute and develop
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for both strong external and internal interactions that build strong relationships and results
- ~ 10% international travel requirement to suppliers in Asia, Europe, China for supplier meetings, manufacturer site visits, world fairs and conferences
- Strong personal leadership attributes to lead by example. This includes a high work ethic with energy and commitment coupled by an approach that engages others, builds a strong team and contributes to a culture of continuous improvements and overall helps to shape Company culture.
